April & May 2008
Unfortunately April did not start out so well for us. Bill's
niece's husband was killed in a tragic car accident and Bill flew up to
Portland, OR to attend the memorial service. Ben was so young and full of life which
made it especially difficult to swallow. He will be sorely missed.
Near the end of April the Santa Barbara Fair once again came to
town. We drove down one weeknight to go. Tyler was very excited to get some
carnival ride time in and we all filled up on traditional junk fair food. The
following weekend Bill drove down to L.A. and stayed the night to see his
brother Jimmy's band, The Blue Rose Band, play at the Whiskey a Go Go in
Hollywood. This was a big gig and the band was very excited about it. There was
a large Rose family contingent out to support them and they didn't disappoint!
They rocked the house proving just how talented they are.
May brought Mother's Day weekend. The Friday before Tyler stayed
home with Grandma and Grandpa Mok who were visiting from Morgan Hill while Mom
and Dad went out for a night on the town. We went to dinner and went to the
Michael Bublé concert in Santa Barbara. It was a great concert and one we
didn't mind paying an arm and a leg to see. We'll definitely have to check him
out again next time he's in town!
Mother's Day we went to brunch at The Vineyard House in Santa
Ynez. That evening we celebrated Tyler's birthday (which was the following day)
with an ice cream cake. The next day at school Tyler brought in some cupcakes
to share with his classmates and again he had Happy Birthday sung to him.
